Children’s Aid Society (CAS) is embarking on it’s 100th year of service! Our Board of Directors is committed to the future. As the agency prepares for its Centennial Celebration, we are setting our sails for a second century of service. We are looking to the future as we celebrate our past. The first leg of our journey into the future actually begins with a pre-launching expedition. It’s an opportunity to look back and to look forward through the development of a Children’s Garden & Brick Courtyard at Nicarry Caring Center in New Oxford. Located in front of the Lincoln Way West building, this area will include approximately 1800 engraved brick pavers. Names on those pavers might be in recognition of people who have given of themselves to make CAS successful. For instance, a commitment has already been made to purchase a brick for Sudie Wingert, the first secretary of the Children’s Aid Society Trustees in 1913. Bricks might include names of CAS Alumni – children or staff who were at the Carlisle Children’s Home or shared in another CAS service, your name, your grandchild’s name, your church, your school, your service club, or in memory or honor of your loved ones. The names on the bricks will be those of people deeply committed to coloring the lives of children and families with hope. These names will be a visible reminder of our commitment to the next generation. Our goal is to have the garden courtyard completed and ready for dedication by the close of the anniversary celebration in 2013. We will need your help to reach the goal and thank you for joining us in this pre-launch expedition as we set sail into the future. |
